THE SUPERLATIVES OF JOHN 3:16
EVERY WORD IN JOHN 3:16 IS DIVINE IN NATURE AND ABUNDANT IN INDESCRIBABLE MERCY. It is the verse that makes the Holy Bible a global book. It brings God down to our level and guarantees that we will soon be reigning with Him. This sermon is meant to assure that you never take John 3:16 for granted again. It is the Biblical “Statement of Superlatives.”
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” While it would be enjoyable to write a sermon on each superlative, it would burden the message with human thoughts. Let’s simply list each incredible truth and let your mind write the rest.
– GOD…the greatest being
– SO… to the greatest degree
– LOVED…the greatest passion
– THE WORLD…the greatest company of people
– THAT HE GAVE…the greatest act
– HIS ONLY BEGOTTON SON…the greatest sacrifice
– THAT WHOSOEVER…the greateth opportunity
– BELIEVETH ON HIM…the greatest decision
– SHOULD NOT PERISH…the greateth rescue
– BUT… the greateth alternative
– HAVE …the greateth appropriation or possession
– EVERLASTING LIFE…the greatest gift
Why would any man reject this gift? Yet, the unbelieving world hates Him and is on a quest to destroy His name. The Psalmist David spoke to the evil of our very day and affirmed His victory in the end. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.” (Psalms 2:1-6)
The triumph of our Lord and Savior is certainly near at hand. The possibility of His failure does not exist. He will soon descend in His glory and establish His kingdom on the earth. It’s thrilling to know that He will come for us before the wrath of the seven years. Then, we will descend with Him and reign through the 1,000 years of perfect peace. The glory of our future can only be eclipsed by the glory of His Person.

I think people reject this gift for main reasons:
1) It sounds too good to be true.
2) They don’t want to take the tribulation in this world that Jesus said goes along with being a believer.
I’d be interested in someone else can come up with more of these.

And reading on in context or one is judged ( condemned to hell). There is no “LOVE OF GOD” outside of the sacrifice of the cross as there is “no greater Love has any man then that He lay down His Life for His friends”.
“Love” that is preached by the Crouches, was preached by the Bakers, and is presented to the unsaved world in most churches is both fleshly and demonic, it requires only the feeling and verbiage without the dying to one’ self to be raised to walk in newness of Life. To be born again.
A cheap love without the gift of the Cross will end a person in hell.
This along with “save mother earth” “world peace” were all products of the 60s blending of New age thought with supposed Christianity. It was pretentious and deceiving, and it has led to the feminized church we see today. That “love” has given people the open door to adultery, abortion, homosexuality and all sorts. “There is a way that seems right unto man, the end of which is destruction”.

The need of the hour is to pray as elder Charles Bota sung many years ago. If there was any time when we really needed to pray is now. What ought we to pray for? We need to pray with fervency that God will revive us again. We need to pray that God by the power of the Holy Spirit will have mercy upon us and rend the heavens and descend upon us. We need to pray that this season of dryness might not continue but that we might know once again the blessings of His presence among His people. We need to pray that once again our prayer meetings will be filled and evangelism will no longer be a duty but a joy. That we shall once again evangelize on the minibus, at the office, to our neighbors with joy.

To offset this feeling, Edwards preached at Northampton, during the years 1742 and 1743, a series of sermons published under the title of Religious Affections (1746), a restatement in a more philosophical and general tone of his ideas as to “distinguishing marks.” In 1747, he joined the movement started in Scotland called the “concert in prayer,” and in the same year published An Humble Attempt to Promote Explicit Agreement and Visible Union of God’s People in Extraordinary Prayer for the Revival of Religion and the Advancement of Christ’s Kingdom on Earth. In 1749, he published a memoir of David Brainerd who had lived with his family for several months and had died at Northampton in 1747. Brainerd had been constantly attended by Edwards’s daughter Jerusha, to whom he was rumored to have been engaged to be married, though there is no surviving evidence of this. In the course of elaborating his theories of conversion, Edwards used Brainerd and his ministry as a case study, making extensive notes of his conversions and confessions.
