Hope Or Hopelessness

This generation is locked in a desperate chasm between Hope and Hopelessness. The mental institutions are full of people captured by Hopelessness. Drugs that alter the mind are destroying multitudes. Every conceivable calamity is leaving millions unable to cope. Let’s try to understand what is wrong and what to do. Hopelessness must be understood from three distinct truths. First – Hopelessness is a choice. The human mind is a powerhouse to rise above sorrows. The person that is passing through the valley must choose to whip their dilemma. Second – they must understand that the world does not have the answer. All the wisdom of the world cannot defeat Hopelessness. The person must look beyond flesh and human claims, to the Creator and to His Son, Jesus Christ. Third – Hopelessness has no bottom and the person under its powers will only go deeper and deeper. But, Hope is the exact opposite of Hopelessness. First, Hope must make a surrender not just a choice. That surrender is to the Heavenly Father and His Son, Who took all of our failures and carried them for us. Second, Hope must anchor itself on the supernatural of God’s Spirit. Paul said, “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us” (Romans 5:5). The Spirit is God’s supernatural presence breaking every yoke and defeating every enemy. Hope’s third component is always reaching higher and higher until it reaches the sky. The “Blessed Hope” is the return of Jesus Christ to transfer all of His faithful saints that are full of Hope to His own glorious presence. Hope has a wonderful song, named Beulah Land. “Beulah Land, I’m longing for you and some day on thee I’ll stand. There my home shall be eternal. Beulah Land — Sweet Beulah Land.” You will hear this great song at the conclusion of this sermon

    beulah land was sung by mike purkey (on tape, of course) at my husbands funeral.

    even before that it was my favorite song. thank you for reminding me of it.

    i have no anxious hopes, but i am not wallowing in hopelessness either.

    We have a hope – Jesus is our Hope – we can never become hopeless as we look to Him who is our all in all. God always makes a way where there seems to be no way and He will make a way for everyone who continues to seek His Face and look to Him in all situations. People are too quick to run to man and to the world’s system – we need to seek Him first and He will never fail us.
