Thyatira: The Effeminate Church

The title assigned to the Author of this letter fits perfectly with the character of this church. This church is in a sad state and will be cast into the "Great Tribulation" unless they repent. Mercy is available because the Lord Himself has given them space to repent. They will have no excuse if they do not respond. The Author is, "the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass."(Revelation 2:18) This description lets this church know that He is fully aware of their fallen condition. Listen to the end results if these apostate believers do not get right with God. "Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works." (Revelation 2: 22-23) The effeminate church is clearly the order of the day. The church is soft, self centered, complimising and without authority. The attitude is "give us a preacher, we do not want a pastor." Many men in the church dress effeminate and act wimpy. The preachers have lost any regard for following a sanctified lifestyle. They go to the pulpit acting like the Word of God and the House of God is a comic book and a barnyard. There will be a select company that will not bow to this apostasy.
