The Holy Ghost And “Slain In The Spirit?”
Discerning between the fake and the real has become an absolute necessity. The Bible records many occasions where someone fell to the ground before the Lord. When it was pure worship or reverence they fell on their face; but, when it was judgment they fell on their back. The fact that someone may fall before the Mighty God should not be the question. What is questionable is the mass hysteria that follows many well-known ministers of our day. Benny Hinn is notorious for calling fire on those that come before him and sending them flying backward. To watch him in action is to question his powers and their source. Todd Bentley takes this phenomenon to a higher level. His appearance is of a guru filled with demonic powers. This strange phenomenon is reported to have begun with Kathleen Kuhlman. She was very excited when Catholic priests and nuns came to her meeting. They were often the first to fall at her prayers. There is absolutely no record in the Bible of anyone falling in the Spirit before the greatest men of God. When these servants prayed for their converts, they did receive the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and they did speak in tongues. When Peter preached to the house of Cornelius, they received the Baptism while he was speaking, “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word” (Acts 10:44). They also spoke in tongues, “And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning” (Acts 11:15). Everything Satan does is an imitation. Good people have fallen before the Lord because the Bible records it; so, Satan must produce a false to fake it.

I agree, however the tongues are signs and wonders for Israel, and when it happened many came to Him. As in Acts, they “spoke in tongues; the tongues of the mentioned cities and the hearers learned about and became followers of God. Today it is hysteria and false. YES, God can do whatever He wants, but when spoken the listener knew what was spoken and no need for an interpreter. Do you disagree?

Dear Brother Chambers,
I understand that the apostles spoke in tongues for the purpose of those present to to understand the message in their language(the language the people who heard spoke in) which the apostles where able to speak because of the Holy Spirit. However I have heard people at church speak in a tongue that when I ask if anyone understood what they said, the reply was they did not know what they were saying. I believe the Word of the Lord says that if it does not edify the church body, you need to be quiet. Is that right? God bless, sincerely, Brother Jim Sowers

Thank you for taking a stand against this counterfeit manifestation. I have opposed the practice being slain in the Spirit to many pentecostal/charismatics but most of those wth whom I have spoken continue to believe it is a genuine operation of the Holy Spirit. I don’t find disagreement when speaking to non- pentecostal/charismatics who tend to toss the “baby out with the bath water and say the gifts are no longer valid today. Moreover, you identifying the names of those who teach this erroneous practice as a valid manifestation is a good thing. Paul had no trouble in naming names of those who were in doctrinal error. I praise God for your boldness in sharing the truth, it is greatly needed.

Thank you Pastor Chambers for documenting that “Being slain in the spirit” is not Biblical. Moreover I appreciate that you named the names of some miminsters who practice this and claim that it is a genuine work of the Holy Spirit. I have hesitated to do so but have recently come to the realization that it is Biblical. Paul certainly did identify those who were spreading false doctrine and practices and I think he did it to warn the people so they would not fall under the false teachers authority.

I think many people who do not understand the word, fall for anything..just about. I too know the people fell at HIS FEET ON THEIR FACE, not on their back. I also think that when Acts 2:4 happened, that some had come from other countries and the disciples could speak in their language to teach the gospel. Many fear speaking out about the false teachers because they fear blasphe of the HOLY SPIRT..Over the years I watched and listened. One lady said she worked for Benny Hinn. worked a little late one afternoon. as she was walking to her car outside the dome, she heard some man yell at Benny ,,HEY Benny where do you want me to unload these wheel chairs? it was a big three wheeler..she sat in her car and watched them unload them for service etc. she said, that did it for me..and then Benny’s own wife said, Benny if you are telling the truth ,ok, but if you are NOT,,we are doomed..something like that, Now after 30 yrs she is devorcing him. G-d says false teacher will get double punishment. one of the big lies being taught is replacement ,,like they think they replaced Israel. but my G-d is not a Covenant breaker. Genesis 12:3, and Genesis 17: 6-8..how is it that the churches think G-d changes? He HIM SELF said, I change not, no shadow of turning. as for me, I was grafted into the Olive tree.like Romans teaches..and then when the rapture happenes and G-d’s eyes go back to Israel….like HE told us…UNTIL…a word most miss..UNTIL THE TIME OF THE GENTILES is over..also HE said: I will be back in two days..a yr is like a thousand to the L-rd. Benny Hinn,is a 100 percent false prophet,end of story.He has been speaking false prophecies for for many many years.He says he speaks in the name of the Lord,I say he is a liar!When the Lord speaks a word to any of his servants it comes to pass beacuse the Lord almighty has spoken it and he is not a man that he should lie.It is not so with Benny Hinn, people do your homework this liar has made countless prophetic statements that have not come 2 pasS,SO what does that make him/A false prophet right,yep 100 percent.He says he speaks the words that the Lord gives him,than the Lord is a liar cuz none of what he speaks comes 2 pass and I know the Lord is not a liar so that makes Bernny Hinn the liar.He’s been hearing from a spirit but its not the Holy Spirit.
