The Holy Ghost And Singing In The Spirit
Singing is one of God’s creations and He gave this talent to His children to worship Him. Satan’s first sin was probably when he started singing to himself and for himself instead of the Father. It was the Heavenly Father who had created this music in Satan, “Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created” (Ezekiel 28:13). Can you consider the marvel of music and worship he must have led and with which he filled all heaven before he sinned. Look at the power of music that Satan is using right now to send multitudes to hell. Consider Lady Gaga and her satanic song, “Bad Romance,” that has had over 220 millions hits. She starts that song by singing in a false tongue. I believe she is mimicking the Holy Ghost and blaspheming Him in the process.
Now we must learn again to love singing that is anointed instead of just loud and emotional. The church world has sold their soul to the compromisers in both the pulpits and to the new music trends. The thirst for crowds has risen beyond the thirst for Him and His righteousness. The price is a church world that even the ungodly no longer respect. To worship our Creator is the grandest experience of true saints of God. It was the Holy Spirit that said, “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19). Paul said,” I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also” (I Corinthians 14:15b). I have heard saints singing in the Holy Ghost and it is part of my worship. No wonder the devil is imitating it in these last days.

I have always believed that Lucifer was in charge of the Heavenly music & whats more important, that in Heaven ,before he fell, was Eden the garden of God where Lucifer walked.
On earth God created the garden of Eden where satan walked.

Thank you for sharing this important truth about music. Yes, the music in the church is all too often the world’s rather than sacred. It is the world’s beat that stirs up fleshly emotions as compared to spiritual emotions that arise from singing hymns and praise and worship songs without the flavor of carnality. I have been told that music is amoral as long as the lyrics are Biblical. Well, this is not true!! The music has power and will dissipate spiritually if it is not set apart from the world’s music. There is a book written by Dan Lucarini called, “Why I Left the Contemporary Christian Music Movement” wherein he provides the differences in secular and sacred music. It is published by Evangelical Press, copyrighted in 2002. It is a good read for any who are interested in seeking a clearer understanding of the errosion that has taken place in Contemporary Christian Music which is pervasive in the church.

Amen! This loud, contemporary, juke jivin’ music has ruined many Holiness and Pentecostal Churches. If a man of God speaks out against this wave of false worship and false spirits, he is castigated and criticized beyond belief. I know, I have been on the receiving end of some pretty nasty stuff from so-called “Holiness” preachers and individuals who seemingly LOVE their false spirits and false anointings! Just because a group of people have a good dress standard (which I believe in) doesn’t automatically sanction any and every spirit that they promote in their worship services! This generation seems to have lost sight of what true Pentecostal worship and true holiness is all about. Thank you Bro. Chambers for speaking out on the subject once again! We need a clear voice crying in the wilderness against this age of false anointings and false spirits! If you ever experiance the real fire of the Holy Ghost, you will never settle for smoke and mirrors!

There’s wonderful directions for singing hymns at the beginning of the United Methodies hymnal which John Wesley penned. Although written over two hundred years ago it’s worth going over again with any congregation in any denomination. In summary, they are:
1) Learn these tunes before you learn any others.
2) Sing them exactly as they are printed.
3)All persons in the congreation should sing.
4) Sing heartily and with good courage.
5) Sing modestly. Strive to unite your voice with that of others.
6) Sing in time (do not sing ahead or behind others)
7) Above all, sing spiritually. Have an eye to God in everything you sing. Aim at pleasing Him more than yourself.
Also, can anyone explain to me what “shaped-note” hymns are?

BROTHER AND SISTERS OF THE MOST HIGH!! i HAVE BEEN BORN AGAIN FOR 8 YEARS AND I RECENTLY LEFT A CHURCH WHERE I WAS THE ONLY PERSON AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SERVICE THAT WOULD STAND AND SING AND WORSHIP OUR LORD!! OUT OF (200 PERSONS IN THE ENTIRE CHURCH)AFTER YEARS OF THIS NON-WORSHIP CHURCH. GOD SPOKE TO ME ONE DAY AND SAID IT IS TIME TO LEAVE. WELL OUR FATHER SENT ME TO A MEGA CHURCH WHERE ANY ONE CAN WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH. ARE YOU SAYING THAT IF THE MUSIC DOESN’T SOUND HOLY TO ONE PERSON OR THE OTHER THAT CERTAIN PEOPLE ARE BEING LEAD BY SATAN? I WANT TO SAY THAT I DOD NOT CARE WHAT KIND OF MUSIC IS BEING PLAYED I AM GIVING MY PRAISE AND WORSHIP TO MY LORD AND GETTING MY STRENGTH FOR GOD TO TAKE ME THROUGH THE COMING WEAK. Always remember that God HATES a mixture. The Holy and the Unholy are going in two different directions. Worship is an attitude that a person could maintains at the front door of of a host of devils. Keep worshiping but find a pure place to do it in and it will be even sweeter. I know nothing of your church so I offer no criticism.

I agree the new music is very seductive.
I had been looking for a church that did’nt leave the historical Christian music behind, I found one and and am pleased to say that when we sing, the word comes more into our hearts than out, so it is very personal and yet very corporate.
We owe our faith to our Lord Jesus; as Mary at his feet, together we must be with out sin, let no evil be named among you. let us not destroy the simplicity of Jesus with debate about singing.
Satan, lost his original glory when he was cast out of Heaven and his music now sounds like ?

An Assemblies of God church nearby had thousands of members and a good sized campus. I visited with a relative to hear a special speaker. When the band played it was so outrageously loud that my relative offered me earplugs! Her son wore them. Between a condemning pastor and the lewd music, the church folded to about 100 members or so and was forced to sell the campus and move.
