The Seventh Thousand Years
The Bible is full of beautiful mysteries that open their truth only to diligent disciples. Daniel testified to the pagan king, Nebuchadnezzar, of his God with these incredible words, “He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him” (Daniel 2:22). A Godly man or woman on their face before Him will soon discover that the Bible is an open Book full of revelation and majesty. It is hidden to the world but revealed to the pure.
Apostle Peter wrote of the “Day of the Lord” in his second epistle and spoke of a very revealing mystery. The context demands that this little jewel be taken serious. The Apostle speaks of the doubters saying, “Where is the promise of his coming?” (II Peter 3:4a). He then refers to the great flood of Noah’s day and uses specific language that describes a canopy world destroyed by water. The language removes any doubt of the infallibility of Genesis. He then warns these doubters that judgment is being reserved for them because they do not discern His Holy Word.
Wedged between the world of past judgment and the future “Day of the Lord,” are words that show that nothing of His plans are late. Everything is on schedule and fits perfectly together with this very hour in which we live. While the scoffers are arguing about the Rapture, which is the subject of the text, the time on God’s calendar explodes with certainty.
Peter is almost shouting, “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (II Peter 3:8). He was not just making conversation, but speaking by the Holy Ghost. This great principle is also found in Psalm. “For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:4). Those last words are interpreted as saying, “As a guard of the coming night or a sign of my final plans.”
The world and GodÂ’s plans are perfectly set in a great multitude of sevens. There are seven days in a week, seven colors in a rainbow, and seven bars in music. The conception to birth of a child is 39 weeks times 7 days. Every creature in GodÂ’s universe multiplies in a division or multiplication of sevens. The Book of Revelation becomes a maze unless you accept the beauty of its seven tier perfection.
Jesus clearly reprimands men and women that refuse to discern the signs of the time. He stated, “O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?” (Matthew 16:3b). Because foolish people have set dates, they have done great harm to the kingdom. Most people are afraid to even consider the clear evidence of the end. Israel, as a nation, missed discerning the truth of Jesus Christ at His first coming because there had been many false claims until everything was rejected.
I have no fear is declaring, “The end of all things is at hand.” We do not and must not set dates, but we better discern the times. The six day or six thousand years of man’s struggle to govern this universe is at its closing hour. The world calendars are different but all of them are fixed on an approximate 6,000 years.
A secular writer studying the first language discovered or known to men set the date for that language as appearing in 4000 B.C. The language is Sumerian and was different from any language of the whole world. This author was reporting the study of the cuneiforms and prisms they have found in archeological discoveries. They affirm that no language in the world relates to that language and that it disappeared about 2000 B.C. That is a perfect Biblical fit for creation and the Tower of Babel.
I believe the seventh day or the seventh thousand years is the Millennium kingdom of Jesus Christ, the perfect season of rest. “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years” (Revelation 20:6). Allowing for the seven years of the Great Tribulation on earth while we celebrate in the Heavenly Jerusalem, the saints of God should be practicing their Hallelujah chorus. The Rapture is absolutely imminent.
