The Hidden Treasures of God
The Holy Bible is filled with treasures of eternal value that cannot be known by the natural mind. You can live in the books of the world, or sit under the great voices, and still be ignorant of the great wisdom of God. There are only two sources of these treasurers, and each of them is perfectly dependent on the other. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom, and the Holy Bible is His complete revelation. There is nothing to add to the Bible because “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” (Psalm 119:89) In fact, you will find the finished revelation of truth in the temple that is opened at the end of the judgment of seven years. Listen! “And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.” (Revelation 11:19)
The Bible is an eternal well full of eternal truth and our joy is to draw treasures out of that well. These treasures cannot be discovered by reading and studying apart from the ministry of the Spirit. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:14-16) Every thought of the Holy Ghost is the exact mind of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the “Word,” and the Spirit of God is God’s conduit for revelation and truth. The Word of God and the Spirit of God are the perfect balance of every revelation of God. Any separation or confusion of the two is heresy.
God’s plan is always to use His saints as the temple of His Spirit where these revelations and treasures can be revealed. The disciples asked Jesus why He spoke in parables to the multitudes that were coming to hear Him. Their words were very specific and His answer was very plain. “…Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.” (St. Matthew 13:10b-13) Unless the hearer of truth has a heart for God’s revelation it is all nonsense to them. They may get some surface data, but no wonderful mystery of God’s voice. There is a world full of people that can quote many Bible verses, but have no sense of truth because their spirit is not open to His Spirit.
Much of the church world knows some good theological truths. Every system of theology I have every studied, and that includes almost every one of them, has enough truth to save souls if that truth could be set on fire by the Spirit of God. This is why quite often someone within Catholicism, as far removed from truth as that system is, will fall under conviction and then discover a saving miracle of GodÂ’s grace. Fifty-five percent of Americans believe in the Rapture, and eighty-five percent of evangelicals believe in the Rapture but most of this belief is very basic and is not anointed with the power of God. My heartrending burden is for such a breath of the Holy Spirit upon this germ of truth that it would explode with great conviction upon the church world to flee the worldly life and become reservoirs of GodÂ’s wonderful mysteries.
The future prophecies are filled with great hidden treasures that have the power to convict of sin and bring a great awakening to the church. The reason that a cheap fad of popcorn theology is sweeping the church world is the absence of the deeper mysteries. Church people are satisfied with milk because they have forgotten, or never experienced, the meat of the treasurers and mysteries of God. There is no “higher learning” than God’s mysteries. The faddish imaginations of the human mind are foolishness when they are seen side by side with Heavenly truths.
Discovering GodÂ’s hidden mysteries is not far from any living soul. Every one of us was created with the inner capacity to look beyond the natural. This is the source of great inventions, great literary giants, or the imaginative ingeniousness of an architect, or a creative designer. Any person that will turn all they are toward the great God and Creator will begin to discover truth. The Holy Bible is a deep well of eternal realities. GodÂ’s mysteries are not revealed to the cheap soul that loves the filth of the fallen nature. Fall in love with His Word, open up your spirit to His Spirit, and walk on the highway of His glorious mysteries. They are innumerable.
