Cherubims Protecting God’s Holiness

The pure Word of God is absolute in defending the Holiness of God. Habakkuk declared, “Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity” (Habakkuk 1:13a). God’s Holiness is so perfect that two innumerable companies of spectacular Angels protect Holiness in His universe. Seraphims are protectors of His Holiness in the Heavenly realm, while Cherubims protect Holiness in the earth. It was God’s Cherubims that He placed in Eden after Adam and Eve sinned in order to ban their re-entrance into the garden and to protect the location of the Tree of Life. “So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life” (Genesis 3:24).

We live in a generation that refuses to remember the absolute Holiness of God and have even learned how to excuse themselves. One of the most awesome sights in the Book of Revelation is the actions of the four living Creatures. Four is only a symbolic number that coincides with their earthly activity. Four is the Biblical number for things uniquely relating to the earth. The same four Living Creatures or Cherubims are beautifully seen in Ezekiel as they are revealed for the prophet and guaranteed the perfect fulfillment of His prophecies. “As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning. Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel” (Ezekiel 1:13-16).

Remember, Ezekiel was a captive in Babylon and saw this vision while sitting beside one of the Babylonian rivers named Chebar. The message to this man of God was an assurance that, although God’s people were suffering, mighty Angels were in control. All would be well when Israel repented and turned from their backsliding. Miracle after miracle happened for Daniel and these faithful lovers of God’s Scrolls. Three Hebrew men could not be destroyed in a furnace of fire because the Lord appeared, no doubt at the request of these Cherubims watching over God’s Holiness.

It was God’s Cherubims that went down to Sodom and Gomorrah to see the evil that had come to God’s attention. After a thorough look at the Sodomite activities and their debauchery — even to the points of trying to commit fornication with the two Cherubims — the decision was made. Sodom and Gomorrah had to be obliterated from the earth. Getting Lot out of the city was their first task. His wife was lost to this endeavor because she was probably weeping for her grandchildren. She looked back in her sorrow. The very geography of this action of destruction by these Cherubims has never been less than a wasteland from that day.

Two weeks ago, a homosexual party in Pensacola, Florida, was wiped out by a sudden storm. This was called the “Emerald City Memorial Day Weekend.” A similar thing happened several years ago in this same area, which is frequented by Homosexuals and Lesbians. The News Journal of Pensacola reported these words, “‘About 6,000 people, mostly gays and lesbians, converged on Park East, just past Portofino Resort, this weekend for the annual Emerald City Memorial Day Weekend,’ said Escambia County sheriff’s Sgt. Bain Custer. When day broke Saturday, hundreds of tattered tents and twisted poles littered the shoreline where a tent city once stood. ‘Last night when I came out at 11:30pm, people were staying out here. It was all lit up. It was a beautiful camp,’ said David Galstad, 46, Saturday after spending the night in his camper parked in a nearby lot. ‘But by the time I got up at six this morning, it was all gone.’” (Sunday’s News Journal, May 24, 2009).

Do not believe that it is only the sodomite world that is the business of God’s great Cherubims. They will defend God’s Holiness against every act of wickedness and broken commandment. Israel was confined to seventy years in Babylon because of their blasphemy against the Sabbath Day. For 490 years they disregarded the Lord’s command to “Remember the Sabbath Day” and God required every day — His Cherubims kept the count. Remember, Daniel’s prayer and the visit by God’s Angel, Gabriel. The Word of God says, “Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation” (Daniel 9:21).

Search history and you will discover that every culture and nation were judged and destroyed when they forgot God and turned to their own wicked ways. The entire earth and its nation are ripe for the final action of the Cherubims of God. The Book of Revelation records the coming judgment that will cleanse this Universe of the last acts of wickedness. There are four Cherubims, the actual number is a multitude, which are even now preparing for the end. Four is an earth number and pictures the actions and involvement of these great Angels of God.

When the seals are opened in Revelation chapter six, these Cherubims cry out after each of the first four seals are opened, “Come and See.” Seventeen times they are named in this great Book of God’s final judgment. It’s breathtaking to know that it is not just God’s saints and prophets that are defending Holiness in this earth. These multitudes of beautiful, mighty Cherubims are busy day and night. While the worldly crowd hates Holiness, God’s special Angels are fighting the battles of truth. One of the next great moves of God’s Holy Spirit is a fresh conviction of purity and righteousness. The cause of Holiness cannot be lost because of this great company of God’s Heavenly Creatures. They are conscious o f every act of compromise and disobedience and the battle plans are prepared for action.
