The Broadest Book in the World
The Holy Bible is the broadest book in the world. Why then are Bible-believing Christians called “narrow-minded”? There is nothing in the Bible that is narrow, except one great reality. The Bible is so all-encompassing and complete that it becomes the one way and only way to the Kingdom of God and to Heaven. The Bible has every answer for redemption. It contains a complete list of all destructive behavior; it answers every emotional problem; and it is actually history written in advance. It even predatesmany scientific discoveries and has wisdom that exceeds all learning institutions. The Bible is a complete answer for life. There is nothing at all narrow about the Bible or Bible-believing people. It is straight, but we are not narrow-minded as the world would suggest.
The Holy Bible reveals a God that is so full of love that He gave His only Son to redeem fallen man. Study the gods of the earth and not one of them even has a son, much less would he give him to save the world. This gift was a request of the Father to His Son. Jesus clearly stated that the Father appointed Him to die, but He gave Him the right to lay down His life or not; and if He did, He gave the right to pick it up again in a glorious resurrection. The Son said, “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” (John 10:18) No god in this world can compare.
When you pick up the Bible, you have a book that stretches from the garden where God put His created family, to a new Heaven and earth where God dwells with His family. As He gave this book to the human authors, He inspired them with such wisdom to write that the Bible is a masterpiece of brilliance. Book after book within the Bible is so eloquent that the greatest minds have never transcended it. One book is named Ecclesiastes or “The Preacher” and contains more wisdom about living than the Encyclopedia Britannica. It is absolutely breathtaking to read that book from Solomon. Other books are equally overwhelming but Revelation is the grand crescendo. It is full of types, shadows, and Biblical ideas. It draws from the rest of the whole Bible but is united in a perfect outline of the end. It is so brilliant that most Ph.D.’s fear to touch it.
One of the greatest truths of the Bible, and the God that sent it, is the reality of His revelations of Himself. Every god of this world hides behind the mystical ideas they promote and teach, but the Bible’s God reveals Himself over and over. He walked with Adam in the garden, prompted Enoch to walk with Him and then go to His home together. The Angel of Christ (His pre-incarnation appearances) met with Abraham and wrestled with Jacob. Moses talked to God, “mouth to mouth.” Jesus Christ came as the perfect image of the Father, and Paul the Apostle traveled up to the third heaven to view unspeakable sights. John the Revelator saw the Father on His throne and the new city ready to descend down for His family.
Every potential action or lifestyle that would damage an individual has been marked by God to warn us. The commandments of God are given not to restrict us but to protect us. Our God never calls something sin just to taunt us or hinder our joys. Every restriction is protection. Every law of God is nothing but a barrier to sorrows. The Bible identifies the emotional problems that attack His family and always has the answer for our healing. He says, “…but perfect love casteth out fear…” (1 John 4:18) Entire books of the Bible were written that give eternal wisdom to the maladies of human life. They even record the stories of men that became broken and were dying until they turned to the God of creation and were marvelously healed. Psalms and Proverbs are two such books.
It is incredible to read history written in advance as seen throughout the Bible. Not one advance prophecy has ever failed. Many are being perfectly fulfilled as I write. The Bible is so broad that no one has the right to call Christianity narrow-minded. This great “Word of God” is a masterpiece. It was God-breathed, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Dedicated Christians are not narrow-minded. If you will be careful to read, study, memorize, and externalize the book, it will make you so bold and tender that you are a light in your world both to yourself and to all that know you.
