Narrow Minded Christians Corruption from Simplicity in Christ
The Christian life is extremely narrow. Nothing is more offensive to this generation than this single fact. Narrow-minded Christians are rare today because they are usually attacked by almost every element of the church world. One of the definitive characteristics of most modern television evangelists is their attack of the fundamental Christian lifestyle. We are called phariseeical, puritanical, legalistic, and every other word that could describe narrow Biblical living. No wonder the church has become a joke to the world in this late hour of His soon return.
Please look at how Apostle Paul addressed this problem, "For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present [you as] a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtility, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (2 Corinthians 11:3).
Note these words again, "Lest . . . your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." The word simplicity means singleness or a narrow mind toward Jesus. The Biblical life is so narrow that we joyously live in complete surrender to the Word of God. I believe the Lord is looking for a fresh generation of saints that are willing to be "narrow":
"Narrow" in what you allow to enter your mind.
"Narrow" in what you spend your time doing.
"Narrow" in how you dress and adorn yourself.
"Narrow" in how you spend your money.
"Narrow" in the words of your conservation.
"Narrow" in keeping a watch over your eyes.
"Narrow" in keeping God’s commandments.
"Narrow" in the watch over your soul. ". . . What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Mark 8:37)
