The Keeping of the Lord’s Day
One of America’s and the church’s gravest sins is the complete defilement of the Lord’s Day. During no period in church history when revival was ripe and the church was walking in holiness, did the people defile the Lord’s Day. I have ample books and writings of D.L. Moody, Arthur Pink, and others where they placed keeping the Lord’s Day holy on the same level as being obedient to pure speech, clean moral living, and every other commandment of God.
It is impossible to truly please God in your spiritual walk if you will not keep the day that He has set apart holy. This is the day the Holy Ghost calls the Lord’s Day. I have been faced with more stubbornness on this subject than any subject on which I have ever preached. Ministers have become so accustomed to leaving the House of God on the Lord’s Day and going straight to a restaurant to buy their dinner that they will not hear this truth.
This problem is hindering revival in the church. There is a rising call for Holy Ghost revival throughout America and I promise you by the Holy Ghost that it will not come until there is total repentance, including our treatment of this "set apart day."
John the Revelator was in prison, exiled to a lonely island at sea to labor in a rock quarry. Yet, he was able to keep the Lord’s Day and was in the Spirit to receive the revelation of the Book of Revelation. I believer, if the Lord tarries, that this truth is about to break forth in its sanctifying glory. When it does, along with other acts of repentance, it is going to bring a fresh visitation to the blood-bought church. Families where resistance and stubbornness have reigned, will suddenly begin to break. Holy Ghost revival has one foundation and that is true Christ-centered repentance. The Sovereign God will do the rest.
